Most "AI for business" talk is noise. But a few unglamorous jobs, reading, sorting, drafting, searching, are exactly what modern AI is good at, and exactly what eats your week.
The high-value, low-drama wins
- Triage: read every incoming email/form and route, tag or flag it, including catching phishing before a human clicks it.
- Search in plain English: "show me every job for the Kewdale site last month" instead of ten filters.
- Drafting: first-pass quotes, replies and reports a human then tweaks, 80% done in seconds.
- Classifying documents: file the invoice, the cert, the contract automatically.
A week in the life
Picture the same Monday, before and after. Before: forty unread enquiries, half of them junk, a stack of invoices to file, and a quote you keep meaning to write. After: the junk is already flagged, the real ones are tagged and sorted, the invoices filed themselves overnight, and the quote is 80% drafted and waiting for your eyes. You didn't work less hard, you spent the effort on the parts that needed you.

Pick the one job that eats the most time and automate just that. A win you can feel beats a grand plan that never ships.
